Rosspirtprom commences production of organic alcohol

21.03.2019

On 25 February 2019, JSC Rosspirtprom received certification of conformity for the organic production of food-grade alcohol. The 'Luxe' grade of rectified ethyl alcohol from food material has been certified as an organic product in accordance with Federal Standard 33980-2016 'Products of Organic Production. Regulations for production, development, branding and sales'.

The certifier of organic production was "Organic-Expert" - the only company in Russia to currently have the Federal Accreditation Service's permission to carry out this activity.

The organic alcohol is produced from wheat grown in natural conditions in Russian fields, where it is forbidden to use synthetic fertilisers or GMO's. The list of permitted organic fertilisers is strictly regulated, farm soils are subject to compulsory certification, and the wheat undergoes import controls. At the company, the production cycle for organic products is allocated to an independent process, made at a different time and in a different area from the manufacture of the main product. This starts from the acceptance of organic wheat, which isn't mixed with the main body of wheat during storage, and ends with the storage of prepared products in separate, specially prepared containers.

'Organic alcohol production was launched following a request from our client - the spirits manufacturer BELUGA GROUP. We have carried out a great deal of work in close collaboration with this company's specialists, including searching for organic wheat suppliers and bringing our manufacturing plant 'Premium' in Kabardino-Balkaria in accordance with the requirements of the certification body. The organic alcohol 'Luxe' will be produced in limited quantities under tighter controls, and its organoleptical qualities will be consistently at the top of the range,' Elena Manokhina (commercial director at JSC Rosspirtprom) stated at the launch of the new product.

In 2019, 'Luxe' organic alcohol will be shipped to one client within the framework of an exclusive supply deal. In the future, the market for organic alcohol could be expanded, considering the development forecasts of the organic segment in the Russian and global markets.
